How to pick a house that fits your world
These house ideas are complete builds, not just screenshots. Each of these house designs lists its size and every block before you start, so you can pick a house that fits your plot and your chests. Start with the footprint: a starter hut fits on a 9 × 9 patch near spawn, while a family home needs a flat area two or three times that size.
Then check the blocks against your world, not just the picture. Oak, spruce and birch are the fastest woods to gather in survival, and a stone brick footing keeps a house off the grass and hides the uneven ground underneath. If your plot is on a slope, either level it first or pick a house whose footing is tall enough to cover the drop; on flat plains near spawn, a single-storey starter hut will finish in one evening. Building in snow or desert? Keep the footprint and swap the wood for spruce or sandstone, and use the block list to see exactly how much you’re replacing.
Every house has numbered steps of 5 to 15 blocks, a blueprint you can read one layer at a time and an interior chapter that furnishes the rooms, so you can stop after any chapter and pick up on the same step later.
How big should a starter house be?
A starter hut fits on a 9 × 9 patch, and a single-storey one finishes in an evening. Every build shows its size and build time, so you can check a house against your plot before you open the guide.
What blocks are cheapest for a survival house?
Wood and stone are the easiest to gather: oak, spruce or birch for the walls and roof, and stone brick or cobblestone for the footing. The block list counts everything before you start, and its raw materials view shows the logs and stone behind the planks and bricks.
Can I build these in Bedrock with the same blocks?
Yes. Every house is built from vanilla blocks, and a few have different names on Java and Bedrock. Choose your edition once and the guide shows the names for your game.
