What a good survival base needs

A base is where a survival world starts to feel like home, so these base ideas are planned around what you use every day: a wall of chests, a crafting corner with a furnace and smoker, beds, and a door you can reach quickly at night. Each guide lists every block in stacks and chests before you start, and flags any hard-to-find block, so a trip to a far-off biome never surprises you halfway up a wall.

Most bases are built in chapters, shell first and rooms after, so you have shelter by the end of the first evening and add storage, a farm corner or an enchanting room as you go. Later chapters are separate from the shell, which means you can live in the base while it grows.

Pick by footprint if you already have a spot in mind, or by level if this is your first big build. Compact bases tuck into a hillside, while larger ones want a flat plot, so compare the size on the card with the space you have. Every base has a blueprint you can read one layer at a time, so you can see where the chest wall, the beds and the door sit before you place a single block.

How many chests does a survival base need?

Start with one wall of chests and add more as the base grows. The guides add storage in later chapters, so you don’t have to build it all on the first evening. The build’s block list also shows how many chests its own blocks fill, so you know what to carry.

Where should I put my base?

Choose a spot near the trees and stone you’ll use every day, then check the footprint on the card against your plot. Every build lists its size and footprint, so you can measure before you gather a single block.

Can I build a base before I have an iron farm?

Yes. The block list shows everything to gather before you start, including any hard-to-find blocks, so you can see at a glance whether a base needs more iron than you have. A farm corner can wait for a later chapter.
